Google has just dropped the last piece of the Android 15 Beta puzzle before the stable release, and things are heating up. Android 15 Beta 4.2 is wrapping things up, and now Google is gearing up to launch the Android 15 December Quarterly Platform Release, also known as QPR1.

QPR1 is set to build on the already solid Android 15 foundation, packing in the latest bug fixes, stability tweaks, and performance enhancements to keep your device running smoother than ever. Google promises more juicy details soon, but for now, this heads-up is all about giving testers a fair warning to make their move before QPR1 kicks off.

If you’ve been part of the Android Beta Program, you might be eyeing the exit door before QPR1 starts rolling out. If you want to lock in the final stable public release of Android 15, here’s what you need to do. First, opt out of the Beta Program, but — this is crucial — don’t apply the downgrade OTA update. That OTA will have “Downgrade” in the description, so keep an eye out for that. Instead, sit tight and wait for the official stable release of Android 15, which is just around the corner. As long as you avoid that downgrade OTA, your data stays safe and sound.

Now, if you’re feeling adventurous and want to stick around for the ride, you’ll soon get your hands on Android 15 QPR1 Beta 1. Fair warning, though — once that’s installed, opting out will mean a full data wipe, so choose wisely. The next window to exit the Beta Program without losing your data won’t pop up until late December when the Android 15 QPR1 Beta cycle is wrapping up.

For those who love living on the edge, QPRs are generally pretty stable, so you won’t be in for too many surprises. But if you’re ready for a break, now might be the time to make your move.

If all goes according to plan, Android 15 should hit the stable stage by September, so we’re almost there.
