Google Messages users, here’s a neat little tweak you might want to know about. Gemini, Google’s AI sidekick that rolled out widely to all Google Messages users in June, came with a small floating action button (FAB) that’s hard to miss. But until now, there was no way to turn it off, which was a bit of a bummer for those who like their screens clutter-free. Or perhaps those who simply want little to do with Gemini in their messages.

Well, thanks to the latest beta update (version 20240808_01_RC00), you can finally hide that button. If you’re not feeling the need to have Gemini always at your fingertips, you can quickly turn it off in Google Messages on your Pixel phone. Here’s how:

    1. Open Google Messages.
    2. Go to Settings.
    3. Select Gemini in Messages.
    4. Toggle off ‘Show Gemini button’.

And just like that, you’ve reclaimed some peace of mind. For now, this option is only available to those in the beta program, so if you’re on the stable release, you might need to wait a little longer.

So, there you have it! A small victory for those who don’t want anything to do with Gemini in Google Messages on phones. Enjoy your Gemini-free messaging experience.
