Android 15 is set to bring a sigh of relief to hundreds of millions of Google Pixel and other Android users who experience some form of color blindness.
Many people may not even be aware of their color vision deficiency, which can make it difficult to distinguish between colors like red, green, and blue. To address this, Android has long offered color correction modes in its accessibility settings, and now Android 15 is taking it a step further with an intensity slider for even greater customization.
Currently, Android offers several color correction modes that tweak the color balance to aid users with deuteranomaly (difficulty with greens), protanomaly (difficulty with reds), tritanomaly (difficulty with blues), or monochromacy (seeing no color). However, the new intensity slider, found under Settings > Accessibility > Color and motion, promises to personalize this experience further. With three levels — low, medium, and high — users can now fine-tune the intensity of each color correction mode to best suit their individual needs.

This is a game-changer, as it means that you’ll no longer have to settle for a one-size-fits-all solution. The intensity slider will allow for a wider range of adjustments, ensuring that colors are displayed in a way that is most comfortable and accessible for each individual user.
Android Authority’s Mishaal Rahman, who discovered this upcoming feature, has demonstrated how the color intensity slider dramatically affects the hue of each color, providing a more tailored experience for users with varying degrees of color blindness. Although the slider is not yet available in the latest Android 15 Beta 3.1 release, it is expected to be a valuable addition for color-blind users once it is fully implemented.
This move highlights the importance of accessibility in technology and demonstrates Google’s commitment to making its platform more inclusive for everyone, regardless of their color vision abilities.
If you or someone you know experiences color blindness, this update in Android 15 could be a significant improvement.
