Looks like Samsung’s next foldables might be taking some inspiration from the Google Pixel Fold. Leaked marketing materials reveal that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 will feature a dual-screen translation mode strikingly similar to the “Interpreter Mode” we first saw on the Pixel Fold.
This feature lets you have seamless two-way conversations with someone speaking a different language. And apparently, Samsung seems to be adopting the same concept, allowing real-time translations to be displayed on both the inner and outer screens of their new foldable phones. It’s a convenient way to break down language barriers without the awkwardness of constantly flipping your phone around.
Samsung’s version, however, has a slight twist. It seems to require the phone to be in Flex Mode and specifically “Conversation Mode” to function. On the other hand, the Pixel Fold’s Interpreter Mode works simply by unfolding the device, making it a bit more versatile.
Either way, it’s exciting to see how Google’s innovative features are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the smartphone world, even inspiring other major players like Samsung to adopt similar ideas. Circle to search is another feature that quickly comes to mind, and it seems there’s plenty more to come.
The official launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 is slated for July 10, which is when we should see how this dual-screen translation mode stacks up against the Pixel Fold’s original.
