Google Flights is reportedly testing a new feature to make your travel planning even easier. According to 9to5Google, they’ve introduced a prominent sorting option that allows you to quickly toggle between the “best” and “cheapest” flights for your trip.

I still have Google Flights defaulting to showing the “best” options available, which typically prioritize factors like fewer stops, convenient departure times, and reasonable prices. However, this new feature gives you even more control. With just a tap, you can now instantly compare the “best” flight with the absolute “cheapest” option, making it easier to find the perfect balance between convenience and affordability.

Apparently, the “cheapest” option will be determined primarily by price, but other factors may also come into play. This means you can still expect a reasonable itinerary, even when prioritizing affordability.

The new sorting option appears as a convenient two-button bar in the main search interface, but it’s currently being tested and may not be visible to everyone. It’s unclear when this feature will be fully rolled out to all users.

The platform already offers a wealth of features, including price tracking, flexible date search, and insights into the best time to book. But this update should still be a handy addition for many users. With the ability to compare the best and cheapest flights, finding the perfect flight for your next adventure just got a little bit easier.

This new feature is a game-changer for budget-conscious travelers. By making the “cheapest” option more visible and accessible, Google Flights enables users to make informed decisions based on their individual priorities. Whether you’re a spontaneous adventurer seeking the most affordable getaway or a meticulous planner who values a seamless travel experience, this update ensures that you can easily find the flight that best suits your needs and budget.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
