Google has quietly rolled out a handy new feature to the Play Store, giving Pixel owners (and other Android users) the ability to remotely uninstall apps from their devices. While the feature was spotted in development late last year, it’s now officially available for everyone.
This means you can finally declutter your Pixel’s app drawer without having to physically pick up the device. Whether you accidentally installed an app on the wrong device, or you’re trying to free up storage on a tablet you left at home, this feature has you covered.
How to uninstall apps remotely on any Android device
As long as you have an Android device in your hand, you can use it to remotely uninstall apps from other Android devices that are signed into the same Google account as the device in your hand. Here are the steps to follow:
-
1. Open the Google Play Store on your Pixel or any other Android device.
2. Tap on your profile icon in the top right corner.
3. Select “Manage apps & device.”
4. Go to the “Manage” tab.
5. If you have multiple devices, tap the “✓ This device” box in the top left corner and select the device you want to manage.
6. Check the boxes next to the apps you want to uninstall.
7. Tap the trash can icon that appears in the top right corner.
8. Confirm your choice to uninstall the app(s).
This long-awaited functionality is a welcome addition for anyone juggling multiple Android devices or looking for a more streamlined way to manage their apps. So, go ahead and give it a try – your Pixel will thank you!
