Exclusive new images have emerged, providing a detailed look at Google’s upcoming Pixel 9 smartphone lineup. The leaked hands-on photos, obtained by the Russian site Rozetked from an anonymous source, appear to confirm the revised design direction for the Pixel 9 series.

The photos show four rumored models – the standard Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and a larger Pixel 9 Pro XL. Rozetked claims to have had access to working models to examine their specs and hardware.

Perhaps the most striking design change is the new pill-shaped camera bar that replaces the previous horizontal camera visor. This design change was highlighted in initial leaks too. Speaking of which, the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro feature a dual rear camera setup, while the Pro and Pro XL models add a third sensor and periscope lens.

The overall chassis appears more squared off compared to previous generations, with flatter sides and a less curved screen. However, the corners adopt a more rounded shape, akin to Apple’s iPhone design language. The publication also shared an image comparing the size difference of the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro with Google’s Pixel 8 and Pixel 7.

According to the leak, screen sizes include 6.24 inches for the Pixel 9, 6.34 inches on the Pixel 9 Pro, and a larger 6.73-inch panel on the Pixel 9 Pro XL. All three main models will use 120Hz AMOLED displays.

Under the hood, the entire Pixel 9 lineup is expected to run on Google’s next-generation Tensor G4 processor, though specs were not provided. RAM will top out at 16GB for the Pro models, with 128GB of base storage.

While Google has yet to officially acknowledge the Pixel 9, the devices are widely expected to be teased or previewed at the company’s annual I/O developer conference on May 14.

Other notable details:

  • Pixel 9 and Pro have slightly different sizes despite similar dimensions.
  • Pro models get matte glass backs and glossy frames; the standard model is the reverse.
  • Only Pro phones will include UWB (ultra-wideband) support.
  • All rear cameras on Pro models are 50MP sensors.
  • Code names: Pixel 9 (Tokay), 9 Pro (Caiman), 9 Pro XL (Komodo).

While the leak provides our best look yet at the Pixel 9 design, many details like pricing, full specs, and availability remain unknown. Google’s next-gen Pixels will face fierce competition from Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series and Apple’s upcoming flagship phone offerings, expected later this year.
