Since their release last October, Google’s Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones have been praised for their camera performance and AI features, even winning the company several awards, including being named the most innovative consumer electronics company in the world. However, the user experience for some owners has been negatively affected by persistent stuttering and jitteriness issues when scrolling inside certain apps, something Google is finally set to address with the update to Android 15.

The problem has been reported in both Google’s own apps like Chrome and YouTube, as well as third-party apps like Reddit. While Google released a fix for touch-related problems back in November, it failed to fully resolve the scrolling problems. None of the subsequent updates that have rolled out to the Pixel 8, including the most recent March Feature Drop, didn’t address the frustrating stuttering issues.

But after months of user complaints, Google appears to have finally taken the Pixel 8 stuttering issue seriously. An official acknowledgment has been shared in a lengthy Issue Tracker thread, confirming that a fix for the scrolling glitches is in development and will be included in the next Android operating system update.

Given that the Pixel 8 series currently runs on Android 14, the next Android update will be Android 15. Android 15 is currently available in developer preview, meaning Pixel 8 users will have to wait for a few more months before getting a fix for the scrolling stutters issue.

While it’s a relief to know that Google is working on a solution, the fact that Pixel 8 users may have to endure the annoyance for potentially months before the release of Android 15 is somewhat disheartening. Nonetheless, it’s a step in the right direction, and the fix could also benefit users on other devices experiencing similar scrolling issues.
