Google has quietly pulled the Pixel 6a from its online store, signaling the imminent arrival of its successor, the Pixel 8a. This move comes as no surprise, considering the Pixel 8a is anticipated to launch around Google I/O 2024 in May. The folks over at DroidLife were the first to notice the Pixel 6a disappearing from the official store.

Pixel 6a links to the official store now redirect to the Pixel 7a’s listing or the main page of the Google Store. The removal of the Pixel 6a suggests Google is clearing the decks for the Pixel 8a launch. With the Pixel 7a already offering significant improvements over the 6a, the Pixel 8a promises even more exciting upgrades. Rumors hint at a smooth 120Hz display, more storage, and a refined design that aligns with the Pixel 8 series.

While the Pixel 6a remains available at other retailers (often at tempting discounts), there are compelling reasons to hold out for the Pixel 8a. If you’re not in immediate need of a phone, the Pixel 8a’s expected enhancements could make it a worthwhile upgrade.

If you do need a budget-friendly Pixel right now, the Pixel 7a is still a solid choice. Moreover, the Pixel 8a is rumored to come with a bump in its price. So if you can snag the Pixel 7a at a discounted price, it’s definitely worth considering.
