The latest Android beta has dropped clues suggesting a successor to the Pixel Tablet, likely going to be dubbed Pixel Tablet 2,’ might be under development. ️Remember codenames like “Tangor” and “Tangorpro” for the original Pixel Tablet? Well, 9to5Google has discovered new codenames in the Android 14 QPR3 beta – “Clementine” and “Kiyomi” – that follow the citrus theme and could point towards a new tablet in the making.
Now, hold on before you get too excited. While the citrus connection suggests a link to the Pixel Tablet, there’s no concrete evidence yet confirming these codenames belong to a tablet specifically. However, the timing and fruit-based theme make it a very tempting guess.
In case you need a refresher, the original Pixel Tablet had two codenames, “Tangor” and “Tangorpro,” and a dock codenamed “Korlan.” The publication’s team had also found a codename “Citron,” but its purpose still remains unknown. That said “Clementine” and “Kiyomi” are new codenames discovered in the latest beta, continuing the citrus theme.
While we can’t be sure until Google officially confirms it, the citrus trail and timing strongly suggest a Pixel Tablet 2 might be blossoming behind the scenes. Who knows, maybe Google will talk more about the Pixel Tablet 2 around the time it launches the upcoming Pixel 8a or at Google I/O 2024. Stay tuned for further developments.
