The world of Baldur’s Gate 3 is undeniably grim, with fleeting moments of lighthearted fun that are overshadowed by its dark premise and storyline. A particularly bleak instance occurs when players venture into the Shadow-Cursed lands and encounter Yonas and other members of the Harpers of Jahira, a prominent character in the Baldur’s Gate series.
Secret quest of the Shadow-Cursed Harper in Baldur’s Gate 3
Baldur’s Gate 3, a highly acclaimed RPG released in 2023, has garnered the prestigious “Game of the Year” award. The game is based on the popular tabletop RPG, Dungeons and Dragons (DnD).
The world of DnD is filled with myriad horrors and monsters lurking in every corner. Players are confronted with one such horror in Act 2 of the story, where they come face to face with a dark and disturbing curse wrought by an immortal Warlock.
During the initial encounter with the curse, players bear witness to a group of Harpers traversing it. Among them, a Harper named Yonas succumbs to the dark clutches of the curse and perishes. However, death is not the end for Yonas.
Through the macabre machinations of dark magic, Yonas is reanimated before the players’ eyes and turns on his own comrades. This presents a challenging battle, as not only Yonas but other cursed entities also join the fray.
These shadow-cursed adversaries can be formidable foes, yet a party with a Cleric or Paladin may effectively wield Radiant damage against them. Upon vanquishing the monsters and Yonas, players can initiate a special quest.
To begin, they must loot Yonas’s body and retrieve his sword and other possessions. However, only the sword is essential for the quest. Subsequently, players can opt to accompany the Harpers to the safe haven at The Last Light Inn or make their way there on their own.
At the inn, they will discover Harper Meygan arranging a small funeral for her beloved Yonas. Engaging in conversation with her, players can offer to return the sword, allowing her to cherish his memory through it.
In return, Meygan will express her eternal gratitude and reward the players with gold.
