Google’s recent December 2023 Feature Drop update brought an array of enhancements, including the introduction of Gemini Nano, a highly capable AI model. Additionally, with the new update, the Pixel Recorder app can now transcribe in more languages than before.
Pixel Recorder app can now transcribe in more languages
Following this update, users can now transcribe in an additional 28 languages using the Recorder app. These languages are accessible on Google Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, Pixel 6, and newer models. While Google hasn’t disclosed the complete list of newly supported languages, users can check out for the comprehensive list below to explore the expanded language options.
Other than these additional languages, the Recorder app also gets support for Gemini Nano on the Pixel 8 Pro. The newly added feature allows users to get a summary of their recordings even when they aren’t connected to the internet. This function relies on a big language model to summarize transcript content. And for that, users will be prompted to download the model.
About the Recorder app
The Recorder app integrated into Google Pixel phones serves as a versatile tool. It extends beyond mere recording capabilities. Users can perform tasks such as editing recordings, conducting in-app searches within recordings or reading transcripts, detecting language for transcription, getting a summary of transcribed recordings, and much more.
However, certain advanced features are exclusive to newer Pixel phone models. If you own a Pixel 6 or newer handset, then you will be able to take advantage of all the new features of the Recorder app, except for getting a summary of transcribed recordings, which is exclusive to Pixel 8 Pro.
