It seems that multiple Google Pixel users have been reporting performance issues like severe lag or images not loading in the X (formerly Twitter) mobile app, since a member of the dev team spoke out about it.
X (Twitter) dev team investigating images not loading and performance issues on Google Pixel phones
Fred Lohner, a member of the X mobile app development team, went to the platform to ask users affected by the performance issues for some video examples to help them see what is happening and to develop a fix soon.
Among the several responses, the most mentioned X (Twitter) app issues on Google Pixel devices appear to be images not loading or loading slow, some videos playing with audio delay, or general lag throughout the app.
In a later post, the dev asks affected users if their devices are running Android 14, to which most respond yes. However, this is not strange, since Google Pixel phones always receive the latest Android versions from the first day of availability.
That said, an individual suggests that the ‘root’ of the issue would be in the latest available Android November patch for Pixel devices, as they are experiencing similar issues on platforms like Instagram following the update.
Regarding the ‘images not loading’ bug, the X (Twitter) dev team member mentions that they have ‘a theory’ of what could be happening, but it doesn’t seem to be an easy problem to delve into since it is not easy to reproduce and is in a ‘high risk area’.
Let’s hope that the X team manages to get to the bottom of the matter and send a fix to the reported app performance issues sooner rather than later. Or, in case the issue is related to the latest Pixel November patch, may the December patch that will arrive soon resolve them.
