Some Mint Mobile customers have been facing annoying service and data issues on both Google Pixel and phones from other brands. Among the reported problems there are cases of total loss of 5G data service, people being unable to send MMS, or even receive phone calls.
Multiple service & data issues on Mint Mobile reported by Google Pixel users
According to reports, there are users for whom the MMS service is not working (totally or partially). For example, some claim to be unable to send MMS from their Pixel phones, even after correctly configuring their APN.
There are also cases where MMS works partially. Users can send normal messages, but can’t send or receive images or multimedia content (as reported by squirreldoodie on Reddit).
Other people report having completely lost 5G mobile data service after renewing their current plan. In these cases, those affected have tried all kinds of methods or tips, but nothing helped to solve it.
Redditor LeftOn4ya suggests that this last problem is due to service throttling applied by T-Mobile (remember that Mint is an MVNO dependent on the T-Mobile infrastructure) to accounts that did not pay on time, and that it is not resolved even after paying. They say that Mint should reset this throttling on the affected user’s T-Mobile account.
Some unable to activate their devices after migrating to eSIM
Another individual even reports being unable to activate their Google Pixel device on the Mint Mobile network after replacing their SIM with an eSIM. According to the user, they only receive a “Can’t connect to network” error (operation code: 7, error code: 10009) when trying to activate it. So, the user is totally unable to make or receive calls.
It is possible that migrating back to a physical SIM will help solve this particular problem, but the user also reports that Mint Mobile is charging them for it. Overall, their experience seems to be quite frustrating, especially having to pay to resolve an issue that is not the user’s fault.
Similar reports from devices of other brands
Service and data issues are not present only on Google Pixel devices, as there are similar reports from people using phones from other brands. For example, redditor breakfixmymsp describes that, after migrating to a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, all of their received calls are falling directly to voicemail, which is quite problematic.
As the screenshot above shows, another person (redditor infamousstyles) claims to have experienced exactly the same problem some time ago, and that the only solution was to migrate from carrier or return to their previous carrier (Google Fi in this case). Other issues reported by users of non-Pixel devices include loss of 5G service, slow mobile data speed, and SMS not working, among others.
Sadly, there is still no official word on these annoying issues that are affecting some Mint Mobile subscribers, but let’s hope that the company offers a solution soon. After all, the correct functioning of telecommunications is vital in today’s world, whether for professional, educational, or even leisure reasons.
