Google has reportedly put an end to the rumors about its plans to launch Pixel devices in South Korea. Speculation about Google entering the South Korean market with its Pixel phones officially began floating on the internet a few days ago citing a job listing.

Google, through its official careers page and LinkedIn, posted a job vacancy for the title ‘Senior Wireless Engineer, Pixel Mobile Wireless’ in South Korea. This sparked rumors that the company would be entering the Korean market.

Popular tipster, Anthony/@TheGalox_ on X, also claimed that Google is in discussions with telecoms in the country for future Pixel launches.

However, in a statement to Korea JoongAng Daily, a Google spokesperson claimed that Google doesn’t have any plans to launch Pixel phones in Korea. This puts to rest the speculation that Google is gearing up to launch its Pixel phones in the country, at least anytime soon.

That being said, there’s still no official word on the matter in the public domain. So there might be a slim chance that Google does decide to go ahead with the launch of the next Pixel flagship device in Korea too.

At present, Samsung dominates the smartphone market in the country with a whopping 84% market share in Q3 2023, according to the latest data by Counterpoint Research. So if Google does decide to make its Pixel phones available in Korea, it’ll have to go the extra mile to get Samsung fans to switch teams. That said, stay tuned to PiunikaWeb’s coverage for more details on the matter if and when there’s any new development.
