Samsung Galaxy S22 & S22 Ultra One UI 6 update showing improved battery life for testers
It’s only a few weeks since Samsung Galaxy S22 series bagged the update to One UI 6 beta. This introduced the latest and greatest OS from Google, Android 14, alongside a series of features and improvements that are exclusive to Samsung devices. But perhaps one of the most welcome improvements is about battery life and overheating issues.
The second One UI 6 beta arrived last week, tagging along the October 2023 security patch. The update, weighing in at 1.3GB, also improved icon disappearance when changing Home layout while using no gesture hint and addressed the issue with not seeing icons or not touching Quick panel in specific situations.

Testers are also recording some amazing battery life stats, suggesting that Samsung may have done some work behind the scenes to address the persistent Galaxy S22 battery draining issues with the One UI 6 update. The series has had battery life and overheating issues ever since launch, something that we’ve documented as well.
Most people blame the Exynos 2200 chipset. But the issue also affects the Snapdragon variant, suggesting it could be more than the chipsets. In fact, we are seeing some positive battery life reviews from early Galaxy S23 FE reviews, yet the phone has the same chipset as the S22 series. Did Samsung optimize the chipsets to improve battery life? It’s quite possible. Will these optimizations make it to the Galaxy S22 series with software updates? Well, it seems like it.

It’s possible that Samsung has been up to something with its One UI 6 software. So Galaxy S22 owners can expect some potential battery life improvements when the stable version rolls out. But we don’t have any official release dates for now.
Samsung recently announced One UI 6 at the SDC23, suggesting the stable version is around the corner. However, with the Galaxy S22 having just picked up its second beta, it may take a few more weeks before the stable update arrives. It’s only then that we’ll fully know how good the S22 battery life is on One UI 6.
