Back in 2018, Instagram introduced music to the stories feature allowing one to add a soundtrack to their story that fits any given moment.

Thanks to this, one can easily express their feelings and get closer to their friends, family, and audience.

However, some are unhappy as they are unable to find some tracks they like and use them in their stories or reels.

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), multiple users are expriencing difficulties in finding the tracks they like in the music sticker library.

Some claim to have even used some of the unavailable songs in their content before, but are now unable to find the tracks on the platform.

It appears that songs available in Instagram’s music sticker library have reduced significantly within the past few days. The affected ones have taken up to the web forums to express their views.

A platform user complains that since the past few days, they are unable to find any of the songs they like, including some tracks that are popular worldwide.

Another user alleges that even though sign used to indicate music tracks are present on their old posts, yet neither the title is displayed and nor the songs play.

So when I upload a post and add a song and go to my other account I can’t hear it, So a friend when on my account and it’s the same thing it doesn’t even say I added a song?

Users have tried logging out and signing back in, clearing the app cache, and uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but to no avail.

Some speculate (1,2) that it’s quite a possibility that some tracks might not be available on Instagram due to some licensing issues.

It can be the case that the company’s contract period with some musicians or bands might have ended.

We do hope that Instagram resolves this issue soon so that creators can enjoy using their favorite tracks in their stories and reels.

That said, we’ll keep tabs on the issue where some Instagram users are unable to find popular songs in the music sticker library and update this article as and when something noteworthy comes up.

01:04 pm (IST): Some users are reporting (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) that they are unable to add certain songs to their stories or posts as the music library is suddenly limited for them.

Several songs that were available before are not available now. Also, these songs are not showing up on the already posted stories and posts.

09:32 am (IST): It seems that the issue with some songs not being available is present to date as fresh reports (1, 2, 3, 4) are still coming in.

05:01 pm (IST): There are some Instagram users for whom the music selection list is limited for stories, but not for reels.

02:46 pm (IST): Some users are now reporting (1, 2, 3) that the option or button to add music is missing for them.

05:21 pm (IST): Reports indicate that more users are now restricted to using music by unknown artists as they continue to lose access to mainstream music (1,2,3). Sadly, there’s still no official word on this issue.

05:37 pm (IST): It appears that Instagram is aware of the glitch where users are unable to find popular songs in the music sticker collection after a creator recently contacted the support team.

However, a solution is not yet in sight. But it seems that the company rolled out some technical updates on the back-end systems that created this issue.
