[Updated] Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update reportedly causing crashing & stuttering performance (fps drops)

The newly released 2.0 update of Cyberpunk 2077 is causing several crashing and stuttering issues, as reported by players.

Affected players have taken to social media to share their experiences with the issue in the hope of shedding light on problems and finding solutions.

Just downloaded patch 2.000.2 and can’t even play it. Crashed 7 times on start up and even forcibly shut down my console once. It doesn’t even get past the CDPR logo. Anyone else having this issue? (Source)

I downloaded 2.0 my game has animation stutters whenever I start sprinting, climb a surface, or aim my throwing knife. The lighting and fog also stutters alot now, I didn’t have these issues before (Source)

CDProjektRED’s CyberPunk 2077 recently underwent a massive overhaul named 2.0, which introduced significant changes to the original game.

It introduced several gameplay mechanics and core game features such as the police system and Perk trees, along with various fixes and improvements.

However, this update also brought about a variety of issues.

Cyberpunk 2077 players are reporting that the game has some severe crashing issues (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) following the 2.0 update.

I’ve had more crashes in one day (8 specifically) in Cyberpunk 2077 2.0. I had in the original release. I’m going to try a clean install and see if that solves the issue. (Source)

According to reports, the crashes occur mid-game and sometimes even during the startup menu.

One player suggested this issue can potentially be fixed by performing a soft install.

But crashes are not the only issues in the new 2.0 update.

In addition to crashes, players are also experiencing various bugs and stuttering issues with the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update.

Many reports of bugs (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and stuttering frames (1, 2, 3, 4) have surfaced on the official subreddit.

Among the reports, some players have pointed out that the DLSS Frame Generation system could be a factor behind the FPS drops and stuttering.

When I launch the game, and turn DLSS Frame Generation on in my settings, the game immediately crashes and from then on keeps crashing at launch. I have to disable DLSS FG in my user settings file in appdata. (Source)

So far, there haven’t been any official statements regarding this issue.

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide an update if and when there are any further developments on the matter.

05:27 pm (IST): Some players have reported that a complete clean reinstall has helped them resolve crashing issues.

I reinstalled the game and now the vehicles are behaving again, so it was most likely corrupted files.
