Having said that, recently some users reported issues with the Check-In feature on iOS 17. And now, another bug has surfaced which is further ruining the user experience of iPhone owners.

iPhone Wi-Fi & cellular icons missing after iOS 17 update

As per reports, the Wi-Fi and cellular icons are missing from the status bar. As a result, users only get to see a battery indicator and time on the top.

And this is happening when the device is locked and even when it’s unlocked or is in use. Below are some reports (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) from those affected:

I updated to iOS 17 and now it doesn’t show me my WiFi or cell signal at the top. How do I get it back? I usually always wait to update to new iOS but took the risk this time and regret it (Source)

@Apple – Just installed #ios17 and as soon as I went through the launch setup screen into the home page noticed the cell signal and WiFi are not showing only when I go into an app. #ios17bugs #apple (Source)

What makes this problem particularly perplexing is its sporadic nature. Some users have noted that the icons seem to be appearing and disappearing randomly. This intermittent annoyance has left users frustrated.

Unfortunately, Apple hasn’t yet acknowledged the problem, but luckily, a simple reboot appears to have worked (1, 2) for some users in resolving this glitch. Hence, those affected can try it out and see if it helps.

We hope that Apple acknowledges and fix this behavior as soon as possible. And when they do, we will let you know by updating this article.

Update 1 (September 20, 2023)

06:07 pm (IST): One fix for disappearing Wi-Fi and cellular icons is to toggle airplane mode on and off. This may help to reset your network connection and get your icons back.
