Here’s the crux of the article in video form:
Mortal Kombat 1 early access players are reporting severe stuttering FPS and performance issues in the game.
Players have shared their experiences and thoughts on social media in hopes of finding solutions or shedding light on the problem.
This Mortal Kombat 1 PC version is weird. I can play the game in 4k ultra settings just fine, but the cgi videos have hiccup stutters. Lowering the settings don’t help so far, smh. (Source)

NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat 1, a modern reboot of the franchise, generated a lot of hype since its announcement. So, when the game opened its early access to certain individuals, many players joined with high hopes.
While the gameplay aspect has received mostly positive reviews, the technical side of the game is experiencing some hiccups.
Performance, in particular, is reportedly (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) not up to par, with stuttering FPS and graphical issues.
According to player analysis, this issues are related to the CGI cutscenes. Players claim that the cutscenes are hard-locked at 30 FPS, and when they transition into gameplay, the game experiences issues or a drop in FPS.
The issue also occurs during fatalities and not just in story or intro cutscenes. Mortal Kombat 11 had a similar issue with cutscenes capped at 30 FPS, but it was fixed after the official global release.
So, it’s possible that MK 1 could address this issue in a similar manner by the official release.
Workaround for the stuttering fps and performance issues in Mortal Kombat 1
Instead of waiting for an official fix, some players have suggested workarounds that may alleviate the issues.
One player recommended tweaking Nvidia 3D settings and latency options, saying:
Go to Nvidia Control Panel, Manage 3D settings, Add MK1 to Programs, Set FPS Max to 60, Enable Low Latency Mode, and Set Power Management to Prefer Maximum Performance. (Source)
If adjusting the latency settings doesn’t resolve the issue, players can also try enabling Nvidia DLSS options to improve visuals:
If u activate Nvidia DLSS in the Options right above the sharpness option, you can change the 20 to 100 and it looks crispy clear! (Source)
While there may not be an official statement on this issue yet, the developers may issue an update soon. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide an update if there are any further developments.
