Some YouTube Music users have been looking lately for how to disable or remove the ‘Samples’ tab. Google recently added a new personalized feed of short music videos to YouTube Music called ‘Samples’.

It helps users discover new music based on their listening history and preferences. If one finds something interesting, they can simply tap on it to play the song or watch the full video.

In addition to this, users can add a track that they like to a playlist and also create a short with it. However, some are unhappy.

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), multiple users are disappointed with the recently introduced ‘Samples’ tab in YouTube Music.

They understand that the feature might be useful for a handful of users, but they prefer a more straightforward approach to music discovery or playback.

Some claim that the ‘Samples’ feature is akin to ‘Shorts’ and are not enthusiastic about its presence on the platform.

People also believe that instead of introducing new features, the company should focus more on improving the existing ones. By doing so, users will be able to get a more streamlined music experience.

A few are even worried that the developers might end up transforming YouTube Music into TikTok. Some argue that the company should not have introduced the feature.

They believe that the necessary algorithms and features to implement this functionality already exist.

Could actually be good if it allowed you to listen to snippets of songs that DON’T have a video with them. That way I would be able to discover new artists. Right now it’s not as useful since it only shows videos, which I don’t care about.

People contend that about one-third of the samples feature mainstream music that doesn’t align well with their taste and preferences. They think that this is just an additional space for music labels to advertise.

An impacted user says that apart from Romanian music and tracks by some artists, the featured music is of low quality. Also, they emphasize that YouTube should put in more effort to feature quality music.

Got this new tab, how do I disable it? I don’t understand why everything now should be based on Shorts. Soo annoying.

A subset of users even assert that the new tab recommends music that they have already listened to. In addition to this, it keeps suggesting tracks that they don’t like at all.

They say that the developers should add a ‘dislike’ button so that they can better train the algorithm.

Is there an actual way to disable it?

Understandably, YouTube Music users have been looking for how to disable the ‘Samples’ tab. But sadly, as of now, there’s no way to get rid of this tab from the app.
