YouTube Music users are experiencing an issue where real-time, karaoke styled lyrics keep scrolling up and down on Android. As a result, they are now actively looking for how to disable the live lyrics function.

The company recently introduced the real-time lyrics feature, which provides interactive, dynamically updated lyrics with an enhanced design.

However, some are unhappy because a bug in the new feature is spoiling their experience.

Multiple users (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) are alleging that live lyrics on the YouTube music app keep scrolling up and down without any interaction.

Even though the lyrics appear as they should for a few songs, they fail to appear correctly for the majority. People claim that it becomes extremely difficult for them to learn any track’s lyrics with the app.

And as a result, they have to manually search for the same on Google, which is without a doubt quite bothersome. Some say that Google should add an option that allows them to switch between the karaoke style and static lyrics.

Others speculate that this might be happening as YouTube’s systems struggle to handle the increased load from its global user base. They have also noticed that the platform fails to load a lengthy playlist in one go.

Allegedly, the system buffers and loads only a portion of the playlist at a time.

Interestingly, it manages to fetch and display a list of suggested songs at the end of the playlist, which misleads one into thinking that the entire playlist has loaded.

After scrolling through albums and playing some songs I clicked on the lyrics tab and discovered that I got them!!

Some also allege that the live lyrics scroll faster than they should and stop moving completely when they try to cast the playback.

A few have even noted instances where the real-time lyrics would appear correctly after restarting the playback a few times.

One of those affected states that they have to scroll a lot merely to read a track’s lyrics. The big font size in the karaoke mode makes it difficult for them to read the whole song in a few glances.

Another claims that they were able to reduce this problem to some extent by decreasing the font size in the phone’s settings.

YouTube Music users looking for how to disable live lyrics

Some YouTube Music users have become so frustrated with the new live lyrics that they are now looking for how to disable the feature. Sadly, there is currently no option available to switch to static lyrics.

Users claim to have migrated from other platforms to YouTube Music so that they could enhance their listening experience. However, after facing such issues, they are now thinking of switching back to previous services.


There needs to be an option to switch between Live Lyrics (Karaoke style) and having Static Lyrics (Normal published), especially if someone is paying for the Youtube Premium subscription.
