[Updated] Spotify showing random album covers art issue under investigation; song preview reportedly missing after update
New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on Nov. 14, 2022) follows:
Music streaming platform, Spotify, lets you listen to your favorite music, and discover new songs with perfectly balanced daily and weekly recommendations of playlists.
It surprises its users with its exciting features and updates almost every year. For instance, Spotify’s ‘First song you played this year‘ pop-up became quite popular.
However, it doesn’t mean that it is immune to various bugs and issues creeping up every now and then.
Spotify showing random album cover
Why is Spotify showing a generic album cover instead of the actual cover? This just started.
Is anyone else’s Spotify showing new and seemingly random cover art for different albums/songs? Am I going insane?
This random replacement of various album covers which most of the time aren’t even relevant to the songs is quite upsetting for some users.
Going by the generic or default covers, users are sometimes adding the wrong songs to their liked or customized playlists thus ending up with a lot of confusion.
Songs preview missing after latest update
@SpotifyCares what’s the point of removing previews at the new Spotify free tier update? More and more users are complaining about that.
@Spotify give me back previews and ability to look through what songs are on playlists for non-premium members again. This is bs
Song Preview is a feature of Spotify that enables users to preview any song, album, artist, or playlist with the help of short audio clips.
But with the sudden unavailability of the feature, users are unable to get a sneak peek of the song or album they are interested in.
Fortunately, the team is aware and investigating the issue where Spotify is showing random album art/covers instead of the original ones.
As for the issue concerning the missing song preview feature, support said the following:
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We’ll be sure to let the relevant folks know you’d like to have that feature again in the future. We’ll be here for anything else.
We hope that the team listens to its users and brings back the missing feature at the earliest.
That said, we’ll keep tabs on further developments and update this article as and when something noteworthy comes up.
