Two weeks ago, Pokemon Go received a new feature called GO Battle League. But the newly added feature was plagued with bugs and many players were experiencing lags and freezes. Many players are also facing delays while battling which results in the losing of matches.
Earlier, Niantic released a new update with version number 0.165.2 to fix the GO Battle League issues. Still, many issues with GBL didn’t not got fixed and Niantic addressed all of them on their official blog with it’s status.
Today, Niantic has released a new update for the game with version 0.167.0 which has further addressed GO Battle League issues. But with the latest update, many players are facing login issues and they have not been able to login into the game.
Players have taken the route of Twitter and forums to express this ongoing issue. Well, the issue is popping up mostly to Samsung owners. However, some other device owners are also getting the authentication error. Have a look at a few complaints down below.
Niantic is currently aware of this issue and they have acknowledged this on their official blog. Niantic has confirmed that they are currently investigating the issue. Players are unable to log into Pokémon GO
Issue description: We are investigating reports of players experiencing an “Unable to authenticate” error when trying to open the Pokémon GO app.
Issue status: Investigating
From a quick refresher, Pokemon Go is one of the best-augmented reality games that are currently available on the market. The game was launched in 2016 & since then it has been running strong. Pokemon Go generated revenue of $1.4 billion for Niantic in 2019.
Update 1 (June 1, 2022)
05:42 pm (IST): Many Pokemon Go players are again reporting (1, 2) issues with login. Moreover, they are getting network error.
Fortunately, Niantic support has acknowledged this issue and said that they are currently investigating it. However, they did not provide any ETA for the fix

Update 3 (July 6, 2022)
05:42 pm (IST): Many Pokemon Go players are once again experiencing login issues that prevent them from accessing the game. Niantic team is already working on a fix, but there is no ETA for it yet.
Update 4 (December 27, 2022)
10:34 am (IST): Some Pokemon Go players are now reporting (1, 2, 3) that they cannot login or sign in as they get ‘Unable to authenticate error’. Luckily, Niantic support has acknowledged the issue and shared that they’re investigating.

Update 5 (March 16, 2023)
01:10 pm (IST): Some Pokemon go players are again reporting (1, 2) issues with login. And even though Niantic support confirmed that the problem is resolved, gamers continue to complain about it.
Moreover, the support team has suggested some troubleshooting steps to fix the error players get while logging in.
Update 6 (July 11, 2023)
12:37 pm (IST): Some Pokemon Go players are currently unable to access the game due to login issues (1, 2, 3, 4).
05:45 pm (IST): The server issues seem to have been fixed, so Pokemon Go is accessible again.
Update 7 (July 19, 2023)
05:55 pm (IST): A recent update is causing multiple players to be unable to log in due to a ‘black screen’. The bug is affecting both Android (1, 2) and iOS (1, 2) users.
The Niantic team is already aware of the issue and investigating, with no ETA for a fix yet.
