Roku home screen layout changed from 3x3 to 4x4 grid after latest update, users want it reverted
Roku has recently released an OS update that seems to have changed the home screen layout from a 3×3 to a 4×4 grid.
The company frequently introduces updates to the platform and its apps, which bring new features and enhance the overall user experience.
However, it might be the case that some changes or newly added features may not be liked by some users.
Roku home screen layout changed
After the recent patch, Roku’s home screen displays a total of 16 app icons. The adjustment has also made the app icons appear smaller and more challenging to read.
Sadly, one cannot restore the layout to its original form. And this is without a doubt bad news for those who found it easier to navigate in the 3×3 form.
Even though one can access apps like Disney+, Hulu, Netflix, and Sling easily with the remote buttons, they face difficulties while trying to access the others.
Various attempts have been made by people to revert to the previous 3-column layout. These include multiple reboots, changing different settings, and unplugging the Roku devices for an extended period, but without success.
Some are also frustrated as their devices updated to the latest patch without any prompt or warning of any kind.
Hi, I powered on my Roku and suddenly instead of the usual 3 icons per row on the Home Screen, there are 4. My mom prefers the other way with the slightly larger icons and everything sorted into neat rows so is there a way to get this back into 3 per row?
A user claims that the modification has not been of much use to them as they use a small TV. Also, they only rely on a handful of apps, due to which they want to revert to the original layout.
Another adds that the latest update has also replaced their DVR and antenna icons with TV inputs, necessitating an extra step to access them.
I can’t find anything in the settings for this and I’ve tried unplugging it. Did I press some secret combo of buttons on the remote? Or did they just push an update?
Users want home screen layout reverted
Disgruntled users have taken to web forums to look for ways to switch back to the old homescreen layout. However, you should note that such a move is not possible as the recent alteration came along with an OS-level update.
Having said that, we’ll continuously monitor this topic and update the story with the latest developments.
