The internet has been abuzz ever since Netflix started airing the One Piece live-action Japanese pirate series on August 31.
The show garnered 18.5 million views after just four days, making it no. 1 in the top 10 list in 93 countries. And after watching it, I must admit it indeed is worth the hype.
Luffy is for sure the main man, but I was just beginning to like the clown guy. I mean, how could you not be impressed by his survival skills? I’m really excited to see what he’ll be up to in season 2.
Will there be season 2 of the One Piece live-action series? It’s what we all want, but Netflix hasn’t made any official statement on this. Also, pray that Netflix doesn’t cancel it after a season or two.
But make no mistake. All the excitement hasn’t suddenly turned yours truly into an ardent manga fan. However, having watched this pirate series, I got a little more invested in the back story.
Of course, social media was one of my go-to sources, and it’s where I bumped into reports of the Japanese dub missing. I hadn’t even noticed this since I was pretty much okay with the English dub.
How? I still questioned. Given that it’s inspired by Eiichiro Oda’s manga series, the least fans expected was the Japanese version to be available from the very first day.
But for whatever reason, this wasn’t exactly the case. And expectedly, seasoned One Piece fans weren’t exactly happy, especially those who have invested countless hours in the Japanese manga series.
Netflix doesn’t have the Japanese audio??? Wtf

Finished the whole season of #OnePieceNetflix, definitely enjoyed it. Was hoping to watch it with the original Japanese cast by he second go around, but the Japanese isn’t available. Bummer.

Why no Japanese audio for Netflix Canada? 😭

I understand their plight. Watching the show in Japanese is the kind of originality I would relish as a true manga fan. Fortunately, it wasn’t long before this situation got rectified.
And now that the Japanese version is available, I also get it that some fans have plans to rewatch the entire One Piece live-action series. Heck, some even already did.
I will binge rewatch because its peak

I’mma watch it twice.

Thanks to its original voice cast, the Japanese dub offers fans a whole new way to enjoy the series, which is refreshing to see.
Granted, we’d also like to know if you, like other die-hard manga fans, will be rewatching the One Piece live-action series in Japanese.
