Some Max app users are facing a growing issue where they are being bombarded with excessive ads during their streaming sessions.
The problem has escalated to the point where even premium subscribers, who should be enjoying an ad-free experience, are not immune (1, 2, 3).

And the timing of these ads couldn’t be worse. Many users have shared their frustration at ads interrupting pivotal moments in their content, spoiling the experience.
Adding to this, some have reported that ads are appearing right before a movie or episode’s climax, only to skip to the next one when they conclude. As a result, viewers are missing crucial parts of their movie or show.
@StreamOnMax why do I pay for your service and still have to watch ads? This network can’t do anything right after destroying game of thrones. (Source)
@StreamOnMax okay but what if instead of sprinkling ads throughout movies (like every 20 minutes or whatever) you did like movie previews at the beginning. bc that would be rad (Source)
Moreover, some reported that the ads even cut the last 30 seconds or even a minute of the show. As a result, they miss out on some part of the show or movie they are watching.
One of those affected reached out to the support team. However, they got different response from all the Max support members they contacted. Hence, a legit response from the support team is awaited.
Unfortunately, the problem with excessive ads on Max hasn’t been officially acknowledged yet. And we hope that they fix it soon since it’s making shows and movies unwatchable.
