Nicki Minaj, the legendary rapper and composer, recently revealed the album cover for her highly anticipated release, ‘Pink Friday 2’. Notably, the album will go live on November 17, 2023.
It will also mark Nicki Minaj’s return to the studio album scene after a five-year hiatus. While the artwork has garnered excitement from fans, it has also sparked speculation that AI played a role in its creation.

The album art has also started a debate amongst fans and critics alike. Some are appreciating the art while others are criticizing the artist for utilizing AI to make the cover.
However, most of the critics point out that the cover art looks like it has been generated with AI. They claim that one can easily figure out that the station is CGI (computer-generated imagery).

Along with this, they assert that the background details are imperfect and melted together just like AI does while forming pictures. Some contend that they are not thrilled by the album’s cover.
They also believe that Nicki Minaj should have opted for something more creative.
But others don’t care whether or not the image was created by AI and are enthusiastically looking forward to streaming the latest tracks repeatedly.
It’s a shame Nicki Minaj’s cover art is AI tho. U can tell the station is CGI but the background is AI generated. It has that “melting things together” look. The details give it away, a lot of the towers and objects aren’t straight for example. It’s not intentional, just AI.

Nicki Minaj’s photographer clarifies
Notably, the photographer responsible for the album cover has provided some insights into the creation process and the individuals involved.
According to them, the cover was made with the help of CGI and a 3D artist using a real set design.

AI or not, it seems Nicki Minaj was able to take some of the limelight that would have otherwise been dominated by Cardi B.
It will be interesting to see how the Pink Friday 2 album performs later this year.
