Stray Kids fans are up in arms after JYPE’s alleged shutting down of Chan’s room, the group’s leader Bang Chan’s weekly live broadcast.

What exactly happened?

During a weekly live broadcast on May 14, Stray Kids’ Bang Chan discussed his experience at Music Bank in Paris. He also expressed surprise that some people do not consider greetings as basic manners.

He shared instances where his greetings weren’t reciprocated, leading him to question this behavior. However, he didn’t mention any names.

Some speculated he was referring to the group IVE due to a video where he greeted them without receiving a response. This led to criticism of IVE’s behavior.

Additionally, controversy surrounding IVE member Won Young’s alleged disrespect and lack of greetings resurfaced. Bang Chan’s comments received backlash, as some felt it was unnecessary and caused speculation.

Netizens also connected this to Stray Kids’ member Hyunjin’s school bullying accusations, highlighting perceived contradictions in how Bang Chan handled different situations.

No more Chan’s room

On May 17, Bang Chan went on Instagram to apologize for the offense caused by his comments. He said that it was not his intention to specify a certain artist in that it has nothing to do with the one being mentioned right now.

He ends it by saying he’ll be more cautious in order to ensure this doesn’t happen again and whether or not you believe it was necessary for him to apologize.

A vast majority of them believe that Chan’s apology was unnecessary as he did nothing wrong. Fans say that it’s not his fault that people made assumptions based on his comments and created the whole controversy.

Moreover, they blame JYPE for apparently shutting down Chan’s room and say that they should have done more to protect one of their own. Fans argue that they should have stuck by him and not have left him hung to dry.

This whole scenario has led to Chan’s fans canceling Division 1 (Div1) that is responsible for managing Stray Kids.
