New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on July 25, 2023) follows:

After YouTube increased their subscription price, Spotify has also hiked the price of their Premium plans. And some users are not happy with it.

One of the primary arguments users put forward is that Spotify should have added additional features to justify the price increase. The streaming service still lacks features like 2-FA, HiFi and Dolby Atmos spatial audio support.

Users point out that competitors like Apple Music offer Lossless and Dolby Atmos support at a similar price point, giving users access to high-fidelity music experiences.

The lack of these features in the newly priced Spotify Premium plan has led some users to feel that the service isn’t worth its cost (1, 2, 3, 4, 5).

I’ll be canceling my subscription! There’s no reason for a subscription increase!!! You are raising to 14.99 for duo when my Apple Music subscription is for a family of 4 at the same price! Go figure????? (Source)

The fact that Spotify has the audacity to raise their price while not even having an ETA on Hifi audio lmao. It’s even rumored to be a more expensive tier. Canceling my sub and switching to Apple Music. (Source)

Spotify Premium plan price hike makes users look for alternatives

As a result of Spotify’s price hike, users are now exploring other options in the streaming music market. Apple Music is one such alternative that has caught the attention of Spotify users.

At a comparable monthly cost, Apple Music provides Lossless and Dolby Atmos support, enhancing the audio quality and providing a more immersive listening experience.

Additionally, they also provide Apple Music Classical at the same price.

Furthermore, if you are considering changing your music streaming service from Spotify, then you can also go for services like YouTube Music, Tidal, Amazon Music, Deezer, and SoundCloud, as per your preferences.

Not all Spotify users are ready to jump ship entirely. Some are considering downgrading to Spotify’s Student Premium plan, which is priced lower than the individual subscription.

By opting for the Student plan, they can continue to enjoy a selection of premium features at a discounted rate. However, as the name suggest, this plan is only available for students.
