Recently, Elon Musk announced the transition of Twitter into X and envisioned transforming it into an ‘everything app’ that would integrate social networking, payments, banking, and much more.

Musk claims that he is committed to making X the ‘most valuable brand on Earth’. Although the transition to X is still ongoing, it is uncertain how long it will take for the company to fully rebrand.

Inconsistent Twitter to ‘X’ rebranding continues as users get ‘Twitter Anniversary’ notification

However, soon after the announcement, users started getting automated anniversary notifications addressing the event as ‘Twitter Anniversary’.

The exact message mentions that ‘It’s your Twitter anniversary! Celebrate with a special Tweet created just for you’.

And it appears that this inconsistency has led to humorous reactions and speculations about the extent of the rebranding’s implementation from several Xers (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10).

So week has been hectic so far, I didn’t realize, Twitter web platform is already really X!!!!! 😱😱😱 So no more Twitter Anniversary eh 😶 Twitter is sentimental to me huhuhu like using it since I was 16 and now I’m 23 🥲 But what can we do 😅

In addition to this, the hashtag #MyTwitterAnniversary has also recently started trending on the platform, and several individuals are using it to share screenshots of the notification and to make jokes about the rebranding.

Users are confused and wondering how they should address their time on the platform and whether they should continue counting their anniversaries under the new ‘X’ name or not. 

Notably, some are also upset with the sluggish speed of the transformation process and are utilizing the hashtag to voice their discontent.

While rebranding is not unusual for tech companies, it can be a delicate process, particularly when rolling out notifications and updates to a large user base.
