Recently, Coldplay embarked on a world tour traversing all seven continents. They also had just announced that the band will perform at Croke Park next year as part of their long-awaited return to Ireland.

Coldplay is scheduled to perform at the venue on Thursday, August 29, and Friday, August 30, 2024. Right after the announcement, fans started skimming through various ticket-selling platforms.

One such platform is Ticketmaster. And it seems, moments after logging into the platform, fans had to go through frustratingly long waiting times. We have also previously highlighted various technical glitches (1,2,3) with the site.

Coldplay presale a nightmare due to Ticketmaster queue system

The highly anticipated Coldplay presale event for Croke Park in Dublin has turned into a nightmarish experience for fans due to the Ticketmaster queue system (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8).

My friend’s place in the Coldplay queue. As frustrating as it was, this was Ticketmaster had to make a waitlist for a certain other artist who’s even bigger but yet its performing in a smaller venue.

Reports indicate that the Ticketmaster queue system, intended to ensure a smooth purchasing process, ended up exacerbating fans’ frustrations.

Numerous fans seem to be stuck waiting with no end in sight. It is owing to the Ticketmaster queue system that appears to stall and malfunction rather than simplifying the procedure.

A few of the lucky fans who somehow managed to get past the queue are stuck on a screen with spinning circle. A similar disheartening incident has been shared by many people, with some waiting for over 40 minutes (1,2,3,4)

No official comment in sight

Unfortunately, there has been no response from Ticketmaster about the ruckus created by the queue system during Coldplay presale.

But there will be a general sale at the end of July for individuals who are unable to participate in the presale. However, it still can’t be claimed with certainty that Ticketmaster won’t act up again.

The general sale begins at 10am local time for all cities on Friday, July 28.
