Nintendo recently released the Wave 5 update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which introduces two cups, three playable characters, and eight new courses.

Along with this, the patch also brings bug fixes to some known issues and several adjustments to the vehicle’s performance and invincibility time.

For instance, the latest update addressed the bug where a player could not throw an item while equipping it and catching a boomerang at the same time.

It also fixed the glitch where a warning would not appear when an opponent used a Bullet Bill in online matches. However, despite the update, some are having issues.

Sun not setting in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe GBA Sunset Wilds

The latest patch has also introduced a change to the Sunset Wilds track, forcing it to be stuck at sunset. And by looking at the reports, it appears that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe players (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) have not received it well.

Earlier, the iconic GBA track would start off at sunset and slowly turn to night with each lap. However, after the recent patch, the sun is allegedly not setting in Sunset Wilds.

This change has disappointed several gamers who enjoyed the dynamic visual experience of the track’s transformation during the course of the race. They believe that the recent modification defeats the purpose of the track.

A player has even taken a jibe at the developers and said that it’s shameful for them to include Sunset Wilds only to make it inferior to a mobile game released more than two decades ago.

Some even claim that this is not the first time that a retro track has missed a defining feature of the original.

I’m really wondering why they chose THIS track if it wasn’t even for the sunset change. Why on earth would they pick Sunset Wilds now so far into the BCP if they let out the most interesting aspect of this course ? It’d be like porting Moonview Highway without the cars.

This is beyond embarrassing like why even bother bringing back Sunset Wilds if they are going to make it WORSE than a Mobile Game and a game from came out 20+ years ago????????

On the other hand, some gamers are unsurprised by the issue caused by the moving light source. They assert that Mario Kart 8 boasts a more advanced lighting engine than any other game in the series.

We will keep monitoring the issue where the sun is not setting in GBA Sunset Wilds after installing the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 5 and update you with the latest developments.
