Frequent operating system updates are typically anticipated by Apple users, as they bring new features, enhancements, and security patches to improve the overall experience.

However, sometimes these updates can unexpectedly introduce issues (1,2,3) that disrupt normal functionality. In case of the macOS 13.4.1a Ventura update, users encountered a frustrating problem when accessing Facebook on Safari.

Following the release of macOS 13.4.1a Ventura update, Facebook users on Safari are grappling with a bug where they get an error message that reads ‘Unsupported Browser’ (1,2,3,4,5).

Just updated the recent rapid security response for macOS 13.4.1, when using Safari to login Facebook.com, it showing Unsupported browser message both on my Mac Studio Ultra and Mac mini 2018.

Facebook has long been compatible with Safari, one of the most widely used browsers on Apple’s macOS. Therefore, the sudden appearance of the ‘Unsupported Browser’ error message has left users puzzled and frustrated.

Additionally, the new Rapid Security Response update for macOS is also affecting other Meta platforms including Instagram and WhatsApp.

Resultantly, Apple has withdrawn the software, most likely as a result of a problem that prevented some websites from functioning once the RSRs were loaded.

Here’s why it happened

It appears that the upgrades caused Safari’s user agent to contain an (a), which unfortunately caused several websites to break.

The fact that Apple has pulled the macOS 13.4.1a Ventura update, it means that the team is probably working towards fixing it.

As users wait for an official resolution, trying alternative browsers may help alleviate the problem.

01:39 pm (IST): Apple has acknowledged this issue and confirmed that it will be fixed in the upcoming macOS 13.4.1 (b) update.
