The Tesla app lets you control everything related to your Tesla devices and vehicles. But currently the Tesla app is down, not loading or working, preventing several users from using it.

Tesla app down, not loading or working for several

Multiple users are reporting an ongoing outage with the Tesla app through social platforms like Twitter. It looks like it’s been down for at least 30 minutes (at the time of writing this story).

According to people affected, when they try to access the app, it keeps loading on a black screen with endless spinning circles.

Hey @elonmusk my Tesla app is not responding for my car or my solar…. What gives ?

App is down right now. And I didn’t have the banner. I had to call. I was eligible but for some reason I wasn’t getting the banner

The issue can be severe as users who depend on Tesla energy products are unable to check the remaining power on their devices from the app. Nor can they use their smartphones as keys for their vehicles.

However, it seems that the connection between Google Home Assistant and Tesla devices is not affected. So, as a temporary workaround, you can check the remaining power levels of your devices from Home Assistant.

According to a user, the problems and errors in the app have been increasing lately (even before the outage):

Getting a lot of error. Happening more often.

Platforms like Downdetector are also reflecting the growing reports related to the Tesla app outage.

There is still no official word from the Tesla team on the situation. Therefore, it is not known when the app will work normally again.

Let’s hope that the problem will not take long to receive attention so that people can return to using their devices normally.

We will be monitoring the situation to update this story as events unfold.

Update 1 (July 6, 2023)

02:55 pm (IST): Some users suggest that the cause of the issue is a Tesla app update released yesterday (1, 2).

In the meantime, there are a couple of workarounds you can try. First, it has been suggested to log out and log back into the app:

Just log out and sign in again, it worked for me;)

Meanwhile, those unable to use their phones as a car key due to this issue can do the following:

Removing app, restarting phone, reinstalling app and re-authorising phone key fixed this issue for me. 👍

Alternatively, Android users can uninstall the app and manually install a previous stable APK version. You can find the previous version (where everything worked correctly) here.

Update 2 (July 7, 2023)

05:31 pm (IST): The issue seems to have been resolved as related reports stopped several hours ago.
