[Updated] Old School RuneScape Mobile login or crashing/loading issues when teleporting frustrating players

Old School RuneScape is one of the most popular MMORPG available on both PC as well as mobile. Developed and published by Jagex, the video game came to mobile in 2018 and has a player base bigger than Runescape.

It features all the basic gameplay mechanics from the original game along with new features such as God Wars Dungeon. It is set in a fictional place called Gielinor.


Unsurprisingly, the frequent updates to the game cause some bugs and glitches that sometimes make it unplayable and ruin the experience. Now, Old School Runescape players are complaining (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) that they are unable to log in with some saying that the game is crashing for them.

Many say they are automatically logged out every few minutes. Players suggest that the issue surfaced after the recent update. Generic solutions such as clearing data and reinstalling the game don’t help either.

Most of the times users are kicked out when they are teleporting to another location. Old School Runescape players are frustrated with the developers since they are unable to login into the game for quite some time.


There’s an issue on mobile that keeps kicking my account off of the account. Not log off, kicked to the OSRS Home Screen and the account stays logged in. This happens when I either teleport, create impling jars, have my infernal axe proc, or simply being idle. @JagexSupport

@JagexSupport hi there, seems to be something going wrong with mobile. Every time I log in, it takes about 3 seconds then instantly goes back to the log in screen. Only started happening today after the 3 hour maintenance? I’ve tried redownloading the app, but it’s the same.

Fortunately, Jagex Support said they are aware of Old School RuneScape login issues and shared that it is currently under investigation. They also suggested users play the game on PC in the meantime since there is no ETA on when a fix will be released.

We hope they find out the root cause of the issue and release a patch as soon as possible. Rest assured, we will be updating this article when the developers fix the issue so make sure you keep checking this space for more information.

Update 1 (December 10, 2021)

IST 11:35 am: Reports now have it that Old School RuneScape Mobile is finally back online.

The @OldSchoolRS game worlds are now back online!

Update 2 (July 26, 2022)

IST 07:33 pm: A recent update to the Old School RuneScape mobile client caused the login issue to reappear (1, 2). Jagex team is currently working on a fix.

Update 3 (November 22, 2022)

IST 02:25 pm: Multiple reports indicate that there is currently an outage on the RuneScape servers. The problem is preventing players from logging into their accounts.

The issue is affecting both RuneScape and the Old School RuneScape version.

Was just fighting the final boss in Legend’s Quest and then the #osrs servers went down lol

Fortunately, the development team is already aware of the issue. However, there is still no ETA for everything to work normally again.


IST 08:44 pm: OSRS support has shared a new status update regarding the issue where players can’t log in:

We believe we’ll be able to provide a better indication on when to expect Old School RuneScape services to return within the next hour.

Update 4 (November 23, 2022)

IST 11:00 am: Many OSRS players were encountering various errors when trying to load the game configuration due to server issues. However, these issues were later acknowledged and resolved by the developers.


IST 12:02 pm: Old School RuneScape team recently took to Twitter to announce that their servers are up and running again. So, players should now be able to log into the game without any trouble.


The team also shared a list of services that will be unavailable for the time being.

Please note the following services will not be available until later today:

▪️ All UK game worlds
▪️ The Polling system
▪️ HiScores for Iron, Hardcore Iron and Deadman accounts
▪️ The Account appeal system

06:21 pm (IST): Many players have taken to Twitter to report that OSRS (Old School RuneScape) servers are again down or not working for them. Moreover, reports on Downdetector also suggest the same.

Update 5 (December 10, 2022)

10:35 am (IST): Reports on Twitter indicate that OSRS servers are down and not working as players aren’t able to login to their accounts.

Downdetector also indicates a spike in reports from users claiming that they are facing login issues.

Update 6 (December 12, 2022)

09:35 am (IST): The server issues have been addressed for the most part. However, Jagex is still monitoring the situation according to the latest status update on its official ‘Game status information center’ page.

Update 7 (January 17, 2023)

04:56 pm (IST): Old School RuneScape support had informed players (in advance) that their game servers will undergo maintenance.

PSA: in ~1.5 hours (at 11am GMT), we’ll be taking US East Worlds down for maintenance.

We’ll let you know when we’re ready to bring them back up. Worlds for other regions should be unaffected, so you can still ‘Scape away! (Source)

As a result, several players are now reporting that the game is currently down or not working for them.

Update 8 (January 18, 2023)

10:03 am (IST): It appears the recent maintenance has been completed and servers are again back online.

Update 9 (April 11, 2023)

04:03 pm (IST): Multiple reports indicate that currently RuneScape login system is down in all its versions (1, 2, 3).

05:30 pm (IST): RuneScape login system is now working properly, so players should be able to log in without issue.

Update 10 (April 25, 2023)

04:42 pm (IST): RuneScape support had informed players that there is a planned maintenance that will last around 3 hours.

As a result, some players have taken to Twitter (1, 2, 3) and Downdetector to report that the game is currently down or not working for them.

07:42 pm (IST): The recent maintenance has now ended and the game should now work as usual.

Update 11 (June 6, 2023)

03:50 pm (IST): The Jagex team performed a Login Server reboot to fix issues that prevented multiple players from accessing the game.

In case the login issues persist, they recommended completely restarting both the client and the Jagex Launcher.

Update 12 (July 4, 2023)

09:11 am (IST): New ongoing server issues reported by some RuneScape players (1, 2, 3).

Update 13 (July 5, 2023)

03:27 pm (IST): Jagex support has has acknowledged the recent issues with the game and they are investigating it.
