Unable to setup remote buttons on Chromecast with Google TV

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9), multiple Chromecast with Google TV owners are experiencing difficulties setting up remote buttons.

In addition to this, they are also getting a ‘something went wrong’ error whenever trying to add an AV sound bar or TV receiver. Interestingly, users are facing this problem after factory resetting their devices.

And to troubleshoot it, they have attempted another factory reset and disconnected and reconnected the original remote itself, but to no avail.
