I just got another month of gamepass ultimate and it’s showing in my subscriptions but when I go to play a game on cloud gaming it just says “Upgrade to game pass ultimate” and won’t let me play it, even though it will let me install and play it that way. (Source)

I am having the same issue. After upgrading my subscription from the regular Xbox live Gold to GamePass Ultimate, i am no longer able to claim any of the free games with gold (Source)

Luckily, we have come across a potential workaround that might help you fix this issue. A gamer has confirmed that they contacted support where they canceled their subscription and re-activated it.

This fixed the issue for them. However, if this solution doesn’t work for you then you can also ask support to add the game you want directly to your account.

I contacted Microsoft chat support and they added the games onto my account, when asked if this would be fix in the future they said it was just temporary. They know about the issue it seems so I would advise everyone to go to chat support, worked for me. 🙂 (Source)

Hence, those affected can contact support team and get this issue fixed. While the exact cause of the issue is not known, these workarounds suggest Microsoft is likely aware of the problem and is working to address it.
