Android Auto is a popular app used by many on their smartphones and dashboard entertainment and infotainment units.

The Android Auto app comes in quite handy when it comes to navigation and device management while driving.

However, an Android Auto update might have broken a handy functionality in the app. There are multiple report regarding Android Auto not reading out messages on the Google Support community.

It is unclear what the exact cause of this issue was but it certainly caused a lot of inconvenience to users.

Also, some workarounds like changing the Text-to-speech engine to Google TTS and disabling the Use WiFi only option were able to isolate the problem.

However, a permanent fix for this issue was still required and it seems the Google Assistant team has now delivered the same.

As per a Google Support Community Specialist, the Google Assistant team has recently rolled out a fix for the issue where Android Auto was not reading out messages.

Thus, those who are still facing this problem should not worry about it as the fix might reach all affected devices soon.

However, whether the fix is available in the form of a new update or has been made at server side remains unclear.

It is still good to see that the Google Assistant team promptly handled and fixed the aforementioned issue.
