[Updated] Rainbow Six Siege high ping due to wrong server selection after latest patch, issue being looked into

Rainbow Six Siege by Ubisoft is one of the most popular Esports titles in the world. It is known for its realistic gunplay where players gain an advantage over enemies through environmental destruction.
Having said that, the developers recently pushed out the latest seasonal update that promised new and interesting gameplay features.
But some updates result in bugs and issues that may make the game unplayable for a lot of players.
Rainbow Six Siege random high ping
Many Rainbow Six Siege players (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10) have been reporting an issue where they are noticing an abrupt spike in ping.
Rainbow six s lagging like shit. I’ve never had latency this bad @Ubisoft
@Ubisoft @UbisoftSupport are there any known issues for servers receiving high ping then games crashing on the latest Xbox client?
@UbisoftSupport why is that I have a full squad of south central US players but yet I still end up in South American servers who ping abuse?
According to reports, players are experiencing high ping because of incorrect selection of the server by the game. As a consequence, players enter a completely different zone with much higher ping.
For instance, a player who started the game on an NA-East server was placed to the one in NA-West.
The issue is said to have popped up after the latest update to Rainbow Six Siege. Owing to this, players feel that they game is terribly lagging and negatively impacting their experience.
I don’t know if this is just me but I’ve been lagged out of most of my ranked games and then when I go to rejoined I’m banned. My ping is perfect on all the games I play too
Fortunately, Ubisoft Support has acknowledged the issue and said that the team is working on a fix.
We hope they soon find the root cause of the issue and fix it at the earliest since it is making the game unplayable. When they do, we will be updating this space to let you know so stay tuned.
Update 1 (January 6, 2023)
06:28 pm (IST): Rainbow Six Siege players have been advised by Ubisoft Support to try port forwarding to the following ports in order to resolve the high-ping issue:

Update 2 (June 7, 2023)
10:55 am (IST): Some players are now reporting (1, 2, 3, 4) high latency issue after the recent update.
Moreover, Rainbow Six Siege support has started closed beta 2.0 and players can try it out and see if this issue gets fixed.
