Without a doubt, Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most convincing open-world games ever created. And this can be justified by the fact that the game has still been hitting new download peaks on Steam in 2023.
It’s safe to say that even after three years, it has surpassed its previous record for the highest number of concurrent players on PC. However, being popular doesn’t mean that the game is free from various bugs and issues.
Red Dead Redemption 2 randomly crashing on PC
According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), multiple Red Dead Redemption 2 players are facing an issue where the game keeps crashing randomly on PC.
Notably, some experience multiple crashes while trying to complete different chapters. While others allege that the game exits to the desktop on loading different in-game scenes.
Interestingly, a gamer has started facing such issues after updating their Nvidia graphics driver. They say that the game keeps on crashing within a span of ten to thirty minutes, which undoubtedly spoils their gameplay experience.
Another player mentions that they have been moved back to the Gaurma tropical island after experiencing a crash on completing Chapter 6. And to make matters worse, their current game progress has got erased as well.
It’s noteworthy that some have recently started experiencing such issues for the first time.

Unfortunately, restarting the game, tinkering with launcher settings, verifying the game files, and uninstalling and reinstalling it could not help resolve the issue.
However, it’s worth mentioning that Red Dead Online players have experienced similar crashing issues in the past as well.
Potential workaround
Those who have purchased and installed the game via Rockstar’s official website, can try uninstalling and reinstalling the Rockstar Games Launcher, for a potential fix.
