Reddit is undoubtedly one of the most popular platforms used by people across the globe to freely express their views or debate on a variety of topics.
Ever since its launch, the platform has allowed users to post whatever they liked.
Although sometimes it may happen that the content shared or discussions held by different individuals are inappropriate and unappealing to others.
And understandably, the request for a ban on the sharing of disturbing content and the creation of toxic communities has been raised, time and again.
Considering this, Reddit introduced a policy in 2017 that prohibits users from posting content related to encouraging, glorifying, or inciting violence.
However, despite the introduction of the policy, users kept on posting unethical content.
And acting upon it, Reddit banned subreddits like r/watchpeopledie, r/gore, and several others in 2019 to stop people from promoting such practices.
Reddit subreddits getting increasingly violent or gore content
But unfortunately, even this ban could not stop notorious people from using alternative ways to share similar content.
As per the claims, users keep sharing stuff from the banned communities in existing and newly created subreddits.
And for the past few months, Redditors (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) have been witnessing an alarming increase in violent or gore content being shared on the platform.
Surprisingly, such content is even being posted on subreddits that previously had nothing to do with this kind of content.
This is undeniably disheartening for users, as they no longer feel comfortable browsing through their favorite communities.
For the past 6 months, maybe a year, I’ve been noticing seeing more violent or NSFW posts on subs that were (in my opinion) quite harmless before.

I’ve noticed the same thing. I’ve had to mute historically tame subs bc I can’t take seeing people die while randomly scrolling.

But to make matters worse, communities like r/makemesuffer still exist that promote unsafe content.
Along with this, several Reddit users allege that some of the well-known subreddits like r/PublicFreakout and r/ThereWasAnAttempt are being filled with violent content as well.
Redditors believe that the community moderators should strictly deal with notorious elements and take concrete measures in order to stop such content from spreading.
In the meantime, we will keep tabs on the issue where some Reddit subreddits are getting increasingly violent or are being filled with gore content and update this article.
