New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on January 20, 2022) follows:

Released on October 5 last year, Windows 11 is the latest and hopefully the last major update to the operating system if Microsoft in the foreseeable future.

And ever since its launch, those who upgraded their machines have reported a multitude of issues with the latest version of Windows ranging from explorer.exe crashing when adjusting volume to the snipping tool not working for some.

That being said, the new version does bring in several changes such as a redesigned taskbar and start menu. But Windows 11 users are now reporting that the taskbar settings is missing the never combine taskbar buttons option.

If you are unaware, the never combine taskbar buttons option lists every instance of an application in the taskbar separately.

With Windows XP, Microsoft changed the behavior and combined all instances of an application in a single icon in the taskbar by default.

But some people never liked the changes and preferred the old school method. But ever since the release of Windows 11, users have complained about the missing option and are asking Microsoft to bring back the same.

Never combine taskbar button
I mean, i don’t even understand why to remove that feature in the first place. I’m uninstalling Win 11 like 10 minutes after installation because of this. I’m working from my computer and I always have a lot of tabs open, IT’S INSANE for me to work without that. PLEASE bring back that option. I liked everything else but i really can’t use win 11 without that.

Windows 11 Start menu and taskbar are useless…
So I upgraded my PC and installed Windows 11 to give it a try… What a disappointment… The taskbar is only there for apps… I used to have folders pinned also for super quick access… That is gone also. And all these menus under submenus… And to add something. Why always combine taskbar buttons and hide labels? For minimalism? This is looks (it doesn’t look better???) over functionality. Now the taskbar is always empty making switching between windows such a messy mindless experience…

If you head over to the Windows 11 Feedback Hub, you can find that more than 11,000 users have requested that Microsoft brings back the never combine taskbar buttons option.

We hope Microsoft listens to user feedback and brings back the feature in a future release. If and when they do, we will be updating this space to reflect the same so make sure you stay tuned.

Update 1 (May 25, 2023)
