[Updated] How to update Max app on Roku TV as transition from HBO Max is bugging many; YouTube TV also not letting subscribers login

HBO Max has recently been rebranded to Max and ever since that happened, users have been facing certain problems such as login issues due to error or getting ‘Not available in your region’ error.

As if these weren’t enough, folks have now reported encountering issues such as difficulty logging in, being immediately kicked out of the app after logging in, and not seeing the option to upgrade.

Additionally, some Roku TV users have experienced login problems with YouTube TV despite having valid subscriptions.

Some users have reported that they are facing difficulties transitioning their HBO Max accounts to Max. In order to switch to the new Max app, users just need to update it. However, they are not seeing any option to upgrade.

So apparently tomorrow my HBO Max account becomes “Max”, and I’ve read that some people will have to upgrade their app and others won’t. I can’t find any information specific to Roku. Do y’all know if I need to download a new App and log in again, or what? I guess I’ll just find out tomorrow but I wish I knew what to expect. (Source)

And while users have reported that their app was automatically updated and changed to Max, others had to do it manually.

If your app has not been automatically updated, you can manually check for updates. Simply navigate to the HBO Max app on your Roku TV, press the asterisk (*) button on your remote, and select the ‘Update app’ option.

Moreover, some users were also able to transition to the new Max app by simply restarting Roku.

Furthermore, the official Roku page has been updated with new information and it now states that users will be able to enjoy the current HBO Max plan features for a minimum of 6 months before transitioning to new Max plans and its features.

Another issue that Max users have encountered on Roku TV is with YouTube TV. Despite having valid subscriptions, some people are unable to log in to their Max accounts.

And although YouTube support has claimed to have resolved this issue, recent reports indicate that users are still facing login difficulties.

In a recent acknowledgment, YouTube support has confirmed that they are aware of this problem and that HBO is working to fix it.

12:43 pm (IST): Some users are reporting (1, 2, 3) that the continue watching option on the new Max app is not working or missing for them.
