In February, OpenAI introduced the ChatGPT Plus subscription that offers users access to ChatGPT during peak times, a faster response rate and priority access to the latest features and improvements.

However, some are unhappy as they are unable to reap the benefits of the subscription.

ChatGPT Plus ‘Something went wrong’ error

Multiple ChatGPT Plus subscribers (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) are experiencing difficulties in using the bot as the website is having performance related issues.

Some allegedly get a ‘Something went wrong’ error on asking questions to the bot while others get a grey screen which displays that the systems are under high load.

Due to this, users need to wait for a while before they can use it again. And to add to their troubles, some are even unable to login to the portal. The issue has been persistent since the past few days.

A user complains that the website is so slow that they are unable to give prompts to the chatbot smoothly. In addition to this, one cannot click on any of the buttons available on the webpage as well.

Another user alleges that they cannot use any of the ChatGPT Plus plugins. They claim that it takes a lot of time for the plugins to load and even when they get enabled, cannot be utilized.

Users have questioned the point of having purchased a plus subscription if they cannot utilize any of the promised benefits.

And understandably, they are now requesting the developers to fix the performance related issues with ChatGPT so that they can use it like they earlier could.

Nevertheless, the troubles of ChatGPT users don’t end up here.

ChatGPT free version reportedly slower than before

Some users (1,2,3,4,5,6) also assert that the performance of the free version of the chatbot has slowed down recently.

They mention that a ‘Upgrade to Plus NEW’ banner appears beneath the chat history, in which the company claims that users will get a ‘Faster response speed’.

This has made some believe that OpenAI has slowed down the performance of the free chatbot in order to force customers to pay for ChatGPT Plus.

Allegedly, this move will help the company increase its total revenue and boost its profit margin as well. One of those affected complains that they are unable to send multiple messages to the chatbot at once.

On doing so, they get an ‘Only one message at a time’ error message and have to refresh the webpage time and again to be able to use it.

No official response

Unfortunately, OpenAI has not yet officially acknowledged this issue and we were unable to find any workarounds for the same.

However, we do hope that the company will address all the issues as soon as possible. In the meantime, we’ll keep an eye on this topic and update this story as soon as we come across any noteworthy information.
