Skype is undoubtedly quite a popular video calling, video conferencing, or voice calling app used by people across the globe. However, like any other video or voice calling app, Skype is also not immune to bugs.

For instance, we recently covered a story where users had been experiencing issues when placing video calls after installing the v8.95 update.

Now, some are facing problems while placing calls to mobiles or landlines.

Skype ‘Your connection is too weak’ error when calling mobiles

Multiple Skype users (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) are facing problems when calling mobiles and landlines due to poor or weak connection.

They allegedly get ‘Your connection is too weak, please try later’ error message when trying to place calls from Skype.

And to make matters worse, some are also experiencing unexpected call drops just after 2-3 seconds. This issue has been persistent since the past few days and mostly affects those who are making calls to China.

Interestingly, those who have a phone number from China itself are facing this problem as well. However, some users from America and UK are also unable to receive or place calls as well.

Interestingly, though, one can normally place voice or video calls to others living abroad or in their local areas without any hiccups.

This is understandably annoying for all those who need to connect with their colleagues over Skype for official work or who need to connect with their family members living abroad.

Recently I got message “Your connection is too weak, please try later” when calling China. I chatted with Skype service associate and was informed that China has restricted calls from Skype.

I have subscribed to skype for unlimited landline calling but when I try calling on any UK number, I won’t get a call to be connected or not even ringing but asking for the credit. I need to resolve this issue ASAP please.

Those affected have tried tinkering with various settings, using different numbers, and calling from different devices but without any success.

Recently, on contacting the Skype support team, users have been informed that calls to Chinese numbers from Skype have been restricted due to a Chinese government mandate.

Official acknowledgment

Luckily, Skype has officially acknowledged this issue and is currently working on fixing it. However, no ETA for the bug fix has been provided.

We do hope that Microsoft will soon fix the issues that users are facing while calling mobiles and landlines from Skype.
