It seems that Instagram has been on a renovation spree lately. We have witnessed a number of changes that are being implemented to the popular social media platform.
To mention a few, we saw the changed position of the ‘Notifications’ button, and the new ‘Top posts’ and ‘Recent top posts’ hashtag sorting option. Sadly, both of these changes received a major flak.
Instagram ‘Add Post to your Story’ button moved to bottom bar in share list
Likewise, several Instagram users (1,2,3,4,5) are now criticizing the most recent change. Apparently, the ‘Add Post to your Story’ option has now been moved to the bottom bar in the share list.
Users feel that this is really an unnecessary change and should be reverted (1,2). Additionally, the list has also been changed a bit. Previously, it was just a tick list, but now there is a send button next to each profile name.
It also brings us to an issue that we previously highlighted where the button had gone completely missing even from the bottom bar. This new change merely adds to the frustration.
Instagram not showing the ‘add post to stories’ option is quite possibly the most annoying bug.

Not just that, people are now ending up sending posts to people privately instead of sharing to their Stories. Again, it’s only because of the changed position and they accidentally keep hitting the ‘Send’ button now.
No official word in sight
So far, Instagram has not responded to any of the reports from users where they have moved the ‘Add Post to your Story’ to the bottom bar.
We hope that the developers look into the reports and come up with a fix at the earliest.
We’ll keep tabs on the latest developments and update this article accordingly.
