Some Notion users disappointed devs prioritized AI update over offline mode, center-aligning text, & other features (workaround)

In February, Notion officially made its way to the world of Artificial Intelligence. It is surely great news because even we have witnessed the buzz created by other AI-supported platforms like Character.AI and ChatGPT.

That said, Notion AI enables users to benefit from AI’s advantages, such as quick answers to questions, automatically generated content, and more.

Notion AI update disappointing for users

However, it appears that some Notion users are not happy with the introduction of the recent AI tool/update, unlike the other AI-based innovations (1,2,3,4,5,6).

If “space” gives you AI options then why “/” also gives you AI options at the top…That doesn’t seem to be a logical decision, it’s as small thing but I loved to press / without any letter and just dive into the heading options, it killed that simple flow and I don’t know what for…

Reports suggest that some users are dissatisfied because developers prioritized the AI update over features such as offline mode and center-aligning text. Apparently, the entire integration of this tool feels quite confusing.

People who are criticizing Notion AI believe that the fact that it activates by simply hitting ‘Space’ is quite thoughtless. They feel that this aspect could have been incorporated in a better way.

Disgruntled users (1,2) now want to have the choice of either turning off this command or getting rid of Notion AI entirely. On the contrary, there are some who think that the tool is ‘phenomenal’.

Some are getting AI disabled (workaround)

Even though Notion states this is a feature for everyone and cannot be disabled, some users have succeeded in deactivating it by repeatedly emailing support.

However, this may not be the case for everyone. In such cases, support is denying the requests of users.

We hope that the developers look into these reports and take the steps accordingly. That said, we also hope to see a toggle to disable the AI for those who are not liking it.
