The Destiny 2 community got the news of the latest nerf to one of the most popular pieces of gear in the game, the Starfire Protocol.

For several seasons now, Solar Warlocks have been dominating the DPS charts thanks to the absurd damage output that comes from spamming enhanced Fusion grenades.

This made the Starfire Protocol an essential piece of equipment for any serious player.

However, Bungie has now called time on the Starfire meta with a significant nerf to Starfire Protocol perks.

The amount of energy gained per instance of damage has been reduced from 20% to just 2.5%, and empowered weapon kills now grant 20% grenade energy.

This change has angered players who were not expecting such a drastic nerf to the Starfire Protocol (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9).

Several players believe that the nerf was too harsh and that Bungie should have taken a more measured approach.

They argue that reducing the energy gained per instance of damage to around 10% or even 5% would have been a more balanced approach.

This would have made the Starfire Protocol less overpowered while still keeping it a viable option for players.

Furthermore, players have expressed frustration that Bungie has chosen to nerf the Starfire Protocol instead of buffing other classes, particularly Hunters.

While Warlocks have enjoyed a strong position in the game for some time now, Hunters have not had the same level of success. Players believe that Hunters need a buff to bring them up to the same level as Warlocks and Titans.

It remains to be seen what further changes Bungie will make to the game in the coming seasons, but for now, Warlock mains will need to find new ways to dominate the DPS charts.
