[Updated] Anita Baker's delayed performance & Babyface cancellation at Prudential Center; fans ask Ticketmaster & LiveNation for refund

Anita Baker, the legendary R&B singer, was scheduled to perform at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on May 7th, 2023, as part of her farewell tour. And the concert was also supposed to include a performance by Babyface.

However, the show was delayed by two hours, leaving fans frustrated and disappointed. In addition, they had to cancel the performance of Babyface to make room for the lady, which further exacerbated the situation.

Apparently, the delay in Anita Baker’s performance was caused by a technical issue with the sound system. As a result, many frustrated fans have turned to Ticketmaster and LiveNation for refunds.

I was at the Anita Baker, Babyface show. Over 2-hr wait & a Babyface cancellation. I dont know who is at fault but @Ticketmaster needs to offer partial refunds. People using canes/wheelchairs were waiting in the lobby for 90 min cuz they wouldnt let us to our seats. Not cool. (Source)

@Ticketmaster I am coming for my refund for Anita Baker and Baby face . Horrible sound , microphones not functioning, late show because of all the sound mishaps / lack of resources and removed an entire act as big as babyface that was on the ticket and people paid for. #REFUND (Source)

Moreover, late seating was also an issue at Prudential center, according to some fans (1, 2, 3).

Some fans have also approached PruCenter for the refund for Anita Baker’s delayed performance as they are the ones who is responsible for the delay.

On complaining to Ticketmaster about this, a user was told that they can’t issue refunds until LiveNation decides to issue one.

Unfortunately, neither Ticketmaster nor LiveNation has acknowledged the reports of the disappointed Anita Baker and Babyface fans. And we hope that they come up with a suitable explantion to this soon.
